The Transaction Services Strategy Group is a global network of about 500 professionals with a fast growing Russian and CEE & CIS practice. We investigate business situations leveraging experience in a wide variety of industries. We advise clients from market entry, commercial and operational due diligence, post merger integration, business planning, synergy realization, growth strategies, business recovery and feasibility studies.

We deliver the strategic insights and analysis that our clients require, in order to plan and execute their strategies.  Our work is data driven and rigorous. The people who will join us will be excellent strategic thinkers, but will also relish the challenge of creating new insights.

General description of the role is cross-functional and combines the following aspects:

  • Responsible for project execution and team management
  • For strategic and commercial projects your main activities will consist of strategic market and competitive analysis, including international and competitive benchmarking, and analysis of business plans.
    • In-depth analysis of markets, product, volume and price developments, key drivers and trends, critical success factors, competitive environment, technological change, via desk research, interviews with key industry participants and proprietary PwC industry knowledge
    • Understanding of clients’ or targets’ current and future position through analysis of their competences and product/service offering versus industry best practices, its competitive position and its cost base
    • Evaluating market entry strategies, or business improvement solutions to improve the client or targets position, revenue and profitability
  • Operational projects focus on the ability of the target to execute its growth path with a focus on its supply chain and manufacturing capabilities, synergy evaluation and integration planning and recommending improvements / investments where required
  • Reporting of the findings to the client
  • Active participation in business development initiatives, opportunities and network development
  • Supervising and training of project teams


Successful candidates will demonstrate some or all of the following attributes:

  • Education, experience and skills requirements:
    • Strong academics: university degree, preferably science or economics and MBA
    • Excellent analytical skills - demonstrating evidence of being highly numerate
    • 5+ years of experience with strategy, business development or supply chain at an (inter)national consulting firm or corporate
    • Ability to address a variety of complex strategic, commercial and operational issues, across a wide range of transactions
    • Fluent in Russian and English
    • Some understanding of accounting and financial modeling is an advantage
  • Soft skills:
    • Understands and committed to delivering excellent client service
    • A can-do attitude – every project is different and will pose a new challenge
    • Strong presentation skills and extravert personality
    • Commercial acumen, willingness to build relationships and develop opportunities
    • Team player, willing to drive the whole business forward

    • Proven ability to acquire new skills quickly
    • Flexible approach to working, including ability to multi-task and to work in teams with flat structures
    • Willingness to travel (in Russia and abroad)
