THE ROLE:
Provide regional leadership for the marketing function within the region.
Key activities of this role include:
Own Marketing/Field “connection”:
Develop relationships with leaders (sales, ops, ...)
Address issues related to offerings, competitiveness, strategy
Liase with functions on strategy and tactics & provide region-specific market intelligence and feedback
Execution of STRAP initiatives within the region
Client support for RGM and leadership team
Achieve orders, margin, service and expenditure targets
Specific responsibilities are as follows
Marketing/Field Connection
Identify (in cooperation with Sales) and articulate new market opportunities to present to central marketingto expand presence and penetration into local markets
Meet with customers to understand requirements and communicate them back to regional management and central marketing
Facilitate customer interviews with sales, operations, and management
Validate global marketing strategies with key customers
Identify potential acquisition targets within the region and perform initial business case analysis for presentation to regional leadership
Provides regional/district customer base analysis and metrics as needed by leadership
STRAP execution.
Analyze key economic conditions that may affect the region’s ability to sell its products or services in the marketplace
Partner with strategy function to influence strategic direction, especially for key initiatives for region. Provide regional data input on market size, segmentation, competitors, market conditions, business analysis etc
Partner with both central marketing and sales resources to ensure STRAP execution
Coordinate actions that drive STRAP execution, including sales plans, training strategies, leader communications, road shows, etc.
Highlight gaps between strategy and execution and provide guidance on corrective actions to ensure profitable growth
Field communication and connection
Ensure that effective communication and collaboration occurs between the marketing function, regional leadership, sales force and field resources
Ensure that the marketing function is understood, perceived as credible, well connected and valued by the regional organization
Collaborate with regional sales to identify specific regional actions required within the marketing function
Client Support for RGM and leadership team
Participate as member of regional leadership team and provide regional/district customer base analysis and metrics as needed by leadership.
Understand and interpret business leader requirements.
Provide support and/or leadership for specific regional and pole initiatives or activities.
Achieve orders, margin, service and expenditure targets
Manage marketing budget for region
Support achievement of orders and margin targets for the region
KEY METRIC
Performance will be measured by:
Initiative and base business orders growth
CTP growth
Budget spend for Marketing function
On-time delivery of initiatives/actions
RGM and regional team satisfaction with marketing support
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, engineering, or associated majors
MBA marketing preferred, or equivalent experience
Business/industry knowledge (approximately 3 years experience in solutions and service based business, preferably HBS)
Experience in large business organizations with matrix management structure (approximately 3 years)
